Overview

Tessera is a multi-stream media player for Meta Quest headsets. It plays video from your own headset, USB drives, and network servers you configure yourself. This policy explains what data the app handles and how it is used.

Data Collection

Tessera does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. The app:

• Does not collect analytics or telemetry
• Does not track usage or behaviour
• Does not require an account with us, or any registration
• Does not use advertising or third-party SDKs that collect data

Network Activity

Unlike a purely offline app, Tessera does have network access — it has to, in order to play video off a NAS or a media server. What matters is where it connects, and the answer is: only where you tell it to.

• Tessera connects only to the SMB shares, Jellyfin servers, and Plex servers whose addresses you enter yourself, and to nothing else.
• There is no Rabbit Hole Solutions server. We operate no backend, so no usage data, media titles, addresses or credentials reach us — there is nowhere for them to go.
• Video is always played directly from your own server, never relayed through a third party and never transcoded remotely.
• The one exception you may opt into is Plex sign-in: if you choose to link a Plex account rather than paste a token, the app contacts Plex's own service (plex.tv) to complete that sign-in and to list the servers on your account. That is a connection to Plex, governed by Plex's privacy policy, and it happens only if you use that button.

Your Media

Tessera reads video files in order to play them. It does not upload, copy, index to any remote service, or report on your media in any way. Titles, filenames, thumbnails and playback positions stay on the headset.

The app can delete a file from a source that permits it — that action is taken only when you ask for it, it asks for confirmation first, and it cannot be undone.

Camera and Passthrough

Tessera can place video screens over a view of your room using Meta's passthrough feature. That view is composited by the headset's own system software. The app never receives, processes, or stores camera images.

USB Drives

If you connect a USB drive, Tessera reads it in order to list and play the video on it. Drives are read-only in the app's direct-USB mode. Nothing about the drive or its contents is transmitted off the headset.

Data Stored on Your Device

Tessera stores the following locally on your device only, in the app's private storage:

• Sources you add — the address of each local folder, SMB share, Jellyfin server or Plex server, so they are still there next launch
• Credentials for those sources — the username, password or access token you entered, kept so the app can reconnect without asking you each time. These are stored on the headset in the app's private storage and are never transmitted anywhere except to the server they belong to.
• Playback preferences — buffer size, maximum simultaneous streams, and any manual VR/3D format overrides you have set for particular files
• Recent searches and thumbnail images generated from your own media

The five bundled sample videos (Blender Foundation open movies, CC-BY) are copied on first launch into Movies/Tessera Samples in your headset's shared storage so they appear in your video library.

This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to Rabbit Hole Solutions Inc. or any third party.

Data Deletion

All data created by Tessera resides locally on your device. You can delete it at any time by:

• Within the app — remove a source from the Library tab, which deletes its stored address and credentials
• Clearing app data — Settings > Apps > Tessera > Clear Data, which removes every source, credential, preference and cached thumbnail
• Uninstalling the app — removes all app-private data completely

Note that the bundled sample videos copied to Movies/Tessera Samples are ordinary files in your headset's shared storage and are not removed when the app is uninstalled; delete them separately if you want them gone.

No data is stored remotely, so there is nothing to request deletion of from our servers.

Children's Privacy

Tessera does not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated date. As the app does not collect contact information, users are encouraged to check this page periodically.
